Step 2: Attend a Come & Try session
Held throughout February and early March, our Come & Try sessions are a great way to get a feel for our club before you decide if you would like to join us. You are welcome to attend as many as you would like! While it's not compulsory to attend a Come & Try session before you join us, we highly recommend it as a great way to learn more about the club, meet our coaches, and see what our training sessions are like.
CHEER Come & Try
Sessions cost $10 each, or all four sessions for $30
Tuesday 21st February:
Time: 7-8:30pm (beginners) OR 8:30-10:30pm (experienced)
Location: Victorian State Cheerleaders (4a Moller Street, Oakleigh - walking distance from Huntingdale Station)
Sunday 26th February:
Time: 5-6:30pm (beginners) OR 6:30-8pm (experienced)
Location: Chisholm Hall, Monash Sport, Caulfield
Tuesday 28th February:
Time: 7-8:30pm (beginners) OR 8:30-10:30pm (experienced)

Step 3: Attend a Team Placement session
To join a MONCAD team, you'll need to fill out our Team Placement Form AND attend a Team Placement session. Team Placement sessions are run in a similar way to a training session (or our Come & Try sessions!), but give our coaches a chance to assess your current skills so that they can place you on the best team for you. There is no need to be intimidated, as all our coaches and athletes are super friendly and everyone who attends our Team Placement sessions will be placed onto one of our teams. You only need to try your best and have fun!
Please note you must be a current Monash University student to join our club (completing at least one unit at Monash Uni in 2023). All degree levels (Bachelors, Masters, PhD, etc.) are welcome. Due to competition regulations, Monash College students unfortunately aren’t eligible.
CHEER Team Placement
Date: Tuesday 7 March
Time (arrive at least 15 minutes early):
7-8pm (beginner)
8-9pm (experience in level 1/2)
9-10pm (experience in level 3+)
Location: Victorian State Cheerleaders (4a Moller Street, Oakleigh - walking distance from Huntingdale Station)
Cost: $10
Wear comfortable athletic clothing (bright colours preferred; NO All Star or Monash clubwear). Bring a drink bottle, and either cheer shoes or runners. If possible, fill out the Team Placement Form before you arrive to save time checking in.
If you can't attend the Team Placement session on 7 March, please contact us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make alternative arrangements.
DANCE Team Placement
Jazz/Pom/Lyrical
Date: Saturday 4 March
Time: 2:30-5:30pm. You will only be required for part of this time - your session time will be advised via email after you have signed up via the link below. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your session to check in, and you may like to do some of your own warm up before the session starts as well.
Location: Group Fitness Room, Monash Sport, Clayton
Cost: $10
Wear comfortable athletic clothing (bright colours preferred; NO All Star, dance club/team or Monash clubwear). Bring a drink bottle, and shoes you are comfortable to dance in (jazz boots, foot undies/turners, or ballet shoes if you have them; socks or runners or anything else you are comfortable in are fine). Please fill out the Team Placement Form so that you can be allocated to one of two sessions.
Please be available to attend a call-back on Tuesday 7 March from 7-8:30pm if requested by coaches. You will be advised via email if you are required following the initial Team Placement session on 4 March.
Hip Hop
Date: Monday 6 March
Time: 8:30-10:30pm. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in, and you may like to do some of your own warm up before the session starts as well.
Location: Group Fitness Room, Monash Sport, Clayton
Cost: $10
Wear comfortable athletic clothing (bright colours preferred; NO All Star, dance club/team or Monash clubwear). Bring a drink bottle, and shoes you are comfortable to dance in (runners or anything else you are comfortable in are fine).
